I finished class at 5pm, packed and then got on the road. I had a business conference in Louisville, KY. After driving 559 miles, something felt wrong. The truck started to pull left and went into the median. I got out and couldn't see anything wrong. I finally got the truck out of the median, but once I got on the road I couldn't steer. Of course a cop pulled up behind me and put on his lights. The cop came to the window and asked if I had been drinking. I said "No. I wasn't able to steer." He said, “Look at your front tire." I got out and looked at the driver's side tire- it was held on by the caliper bolts and some of the wheel bearing was sticking out. The cop asked if I hit something. I replied "no" and asked for a breathalyzer so he would leave me alone. Then the cop asked if I needed a tow truck. I said "Thank you, but I will call my insurance and they'll send a tow truck for me." I waited for half an hour before the tow truck showed up.
We brought my truck to the nearest Dodge dealership, and he asked if I needed a ride to a hotel. He gave me a ride to the Executive suit, and I gave him five dollars for the ride. I met my cousin in the lobby and went to my room. The next day I went to the Conference. When I had a break, I called my insurance to find out which dealership we dropped it off at.Then I made a few calls so I could get a ride back. On Sunday after the conference, I met up with Matt and his wife. We went to the dealership and I dropped off my key and contact information.
On Monday the manager called. He said a lot was broken and the total was $3,175.00. I told him I wanted re-manufactured parts. A few days passed, and when called back, he said the mechanic found some re-manufactured parts, and the cost would be $2,200.00. I told him that sounded reasonable. The following week the manager changed the price again to $2,745 because the wrong part came in. Two weeks later I bought a greyhound bus ticket in Augusta GA. the bus was supposed to leave at 2am. The bus arrived at 2:40 am and was constantly late the rest of the trip. I arrived in Louisville around 4:00 pm and took the taxi to the dealership. Then I paid the bill, and went back to Augusta.
